FINAL MUSIC PROJECT! in Google Classroom

FINAL MUSIC PROJECT!

Our final music projects are due on June 11, 2021. Grades K - 2nd grade are only required to do one Quaver Music Q Sound FX video clip. Grades 3 - 5 are required to do three Quaver Music Q Sound FX video clips. The video clips do not take a long time to create, but the more creative, and the more sound effects and music used will definitely guarantee an excellent grade.  As always, if you need additional help, let me know. I am available Monday - Friday from 8 - 8:30 on Zoom in my ZOOM meeting  room, and can make myself available at other times as well. So far the ones I received were excellent. Also, if you decided to convert a BandLab file to a wav file or MP3 file and attach it to a video game video clip instead of doing the Quaver Q Sound FX project, that is fine, just attach the file to this assignment. If you decide you want to do both projects (converting BandLab files to WAV files and attaching them to video clips  and the three Quaver Q Sound FX video clips project), you will receive an extra grade as well as extra credit.

SONG PROJECT PART #3 Giving our Quaver Q-Grooves Lite Backing Tracks a "FORM" in Google Classroom

SONG PROJECT PART #3 Giving our Quaver Q-Grooves Lite Backing Tracks a "FORM"

Please watch this after reading the Scope and Focus below. It explains simple song FORM

For Parents, Guardians, and students:

SCOPE and FOCUS - I believe it is important for everyone to understand the direction I am taking the students and the reason for the assignments given.
The PS 22 Song Project:
What is the Song Project? The song project is a music curriculum based project that put together to teach the elements of music. Started with our December14, 2020 lesson on Finding Inspiration. Using the Quaver Music Classroom, and BandLab, and taking small steps Lesson by Lesson, our project will end with each student creating a Ring tone, and a 32 measure song (grades K-2) and a 48 - 56 measure song (grades3 - 5). Each step has been designed to teach a musical element.
1- Finding Inspiration was to expose us to different everyday sounds that sparked ideas to write music. What is music was explored during those lessons. We watched Quaver videos from the series. "Bach's Brain, and we explored the Classical Period of Music. We watched Andrew Huang of You Tube fame, make beautiful music from dog barks, water, balloons, and even a horse playing the piano.
2- We encouraged all the students to sign up for the QUaver Music Classroom, so we could begin the actual process of beginning to create the first 2 parts of our project.
3 - Tomorrow February 23, 2021 - is the due date for the Song Brush and Q Grooves Lite compositions.
The Song Brush Composition taught us about melody, counter melody, and Harmony, and how a simple scribble could create a beautiful sample clip of music.
Q Grooves Lite composition - The purpose of this assignment, which is due by tomorrow February 23, 2021, was to create a 32 measure backing track - you could mix different styles together, and discover how the styles(genre) create the "mood" and feel of our final song, and ring tone. With our lessons on Song Brush we covered the key - pitch center of a song - the tempo(fast and slow). We reviewed Presto, Largo, and Moderato (Andante).

Virtual Lesson and Assignment for this week. 3/1/2021
Due on March 9, 2021 (grades k-5).
Q Grooves Lite and "Form". What is Form? Almost all popular songs have a form. Form is how a song is put together using different sections. They have a verse and a refrain (sometimes called a chorus). Some popular songs even have another section called the bridge. The bridge which will usually attach to refrains together. The verse is a melody usually played at the beginning of the song. If the song has lyrics (words), they will usually change each time the refrain is song. If the song has lyrics, the refrain (chorus) will always have the same lyrics. When trying to see how a song is written we usually give these sections the verse, refrain and bridge letters of the alphabet. Verse = A Refrain = B, and the Bridge would be the C section.
Your assignment which we will go over during live lesson, will be to give your Q Grooves Lite Backing track a "form". You have 32 measures, so maybe you want to do a simple A B Form - 16 measures(boxes) the A section (boxes 1-16), and Section B ( boxes 17 - 32). One form that we can't do is Rondo form ABACA, because it has 5 sections and we only have 32 measures, but I think this Quaver Music Video on You Tube will help you understand and hear different sections in a song.

My music assignments as well as project ,assignment grades and attendance will all be tied to the Quaver Music Class, which is linked directly to Infinite Campus. I will be posting several LOOM videos on how to log into your Quaver Music classroom. Starting next week, most of the assignments, as well as the grading of those assignments will all be done through the Quaver classroom. Writing A Song - Part 1 - Finding Inspiration in Google Classroom

Writing A Song - Part 1 - Finding Inspiration

Announcement: Video clips will no longer be accepted at this point. I have roughly 125 video clips, and 6 days to put it all together - wish me luck. On a more serious note. Many students did not email, post, or attach video clips, but still checked off that they handed in the assignment. This happened mostly with the 5th grade. If I received a call, or email that you would not be participating by making a clip, that is one thing, but when I have to spend hours searching for an attachment or an email for an individual that checked off that they turned in something, when they did not, it is very disappointing and makes me very sad.

For those of you that did not turn in a video clip, and did not notify me about the situation, you are still required to do an alternate project. Here is the project:
1- you can either write or record your feelings about this upcoming Holiday Season. How does it feel different than last year. Tell me how you feel about this year's season. Please, take this seriously - 35% of your grade depends on it. Remember, projects are 35% of your grade. If you already submitted a video clip, but you would like to either record or write out what this year's Holiday Season feels like to you, and how it is different - feel free to do so - you will receive an additional grade as extra credit.
2 - This week's virtual lesson 12/14/2020:
We are now going to explore creating and writing music. We will be covering: Sound, rhythm, inspiration, genre (style), tempo (speed of the music), and everything necessary to create a song. This week in live class we'll be covering style - but in your virtual lesson you will watch a YouTube video - entitled: Recording on a frozen lake actually sounds amazing.
and another YouTube video called: Andrew Huang - Lake Louise (Official Music Video)

These 2 videos are all about Inspiration. We will discuss styles and Inspiration in our live lesson. Just watch the 2 videos several times, and be ready for questions.

Recording the video clip for the Holiday Concert - Virtual Class Project
PLEASE submit as soon as possible! Video clips will not be accepted after December 10, 2020! in Google Classroom

Recording the video clip for the Holiday Concert - Virtual Class Project PLEASE submit as soon as possible! Video clips will not be accepted after December 10, 2020!

FOR ALL CLASSES:
This thread contains the following:
1 - How to record your song so I can edit it and use it for our mostly pre-recorded Holiday Concert on December 22nd.
2- YouTube song links for each grade level to be used to make your recording.

1 - How to record your song.
Your video clip needs to be emailed to me no later than December 10, 2020 - this is the absolute DEADLINE! - It would be preferred if you can send me the completed clip as early as 11/27/2020. Video editing each clip and synching the music to it takes a long time. I might be receiving at least 400 clips, so the sooner I receive your clip the better. I will hopefully have time to include everyone that sends me a clip. My email address is: [email protected].
There are 2 ways to record your video song clips so that I can use them. Method "A" can not be used by most of you, but is the easiest, and involves a little less planning.
A - If you have a Mac or Windows 10 computer, and can split your screen or have 2 monitors, then method A is for you. On the left side of the screen, or the left monitor, play the YouTube video clip. Make sure you have headphones or ear buds plugged in. The right side of your screen should be set up for screen capture. Sing in front of your computer. This allows just one person to do the entire process. The end result is that all I should see and hear on your video clip is your singing (no background music), and you.
B - If you have a Chrome Book, or any other type of computer and software. Insert the headphones or ear buds into the computer, pull up the YouTube video that your class was assigned to sing. Have someone record you singing your song on a cell phone. Send the clip to me from your cell phone. Please make sure that there is no background music in the video recording - again - all I want is to hear you sing acapella and see you.
Make sure that you rehearse a few times before you record. Below I will have some examples for you of how it is done.
Song Links used for video recording:
5th grade - Jingle Bell Rock :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpxNNalLTB4
4th grade - Rocking Around The Christmas Tree: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qYz7rfgLWE
3rd grade - Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSsQkCyzODU
2nd grade - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVLyrFg6Vtg
1st grade - Frosty The Snowman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM3cPDkLuEM
Kindergarten/217/117/215/214 - We Are Thankful:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8hRgBP8uaI
Kindergarten/217/117/215/214 - Gracias: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMizImBBuFA
Please let the song play through at least one time to prevent an Ad from running, as this requires extra editing time, which is limited.
Examples of the recording process will be posted in the assignment. Good Luck, and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at: [email protected]
Below is an example of a video clip of a student singing Jingle Bell Rock. She is singing to the music she hears coming out of her headphones. All we hear is her singing. In the second video clip, you see and hear the final product, after I converted the file, edited it, and added in the background music. In the third example you see how I made a collage out of two completed videos. I will be putting collages of 7 videos combined - 10 times throughout the song. It is very difficult video editing, and takes time, so PLEASE get these videos emailed to me as soon as possible. Again, if for any reason you can not do this project, please email me and let me know. I will give an alternate project for you to do.

WEEK OF 11/30/2020 - Virtual Lesson - Live Lesson Review (The Steady Beat/The Classical Period of Music) in Google Classroom

WEEK OF 11/30/2020 - Virtual Lesson - Live Lesson Review (The Steady Beat/The Classical Period of Music)

Virtual Lesson - All classes week of 11/30/2020:
Part 1: If you have not yet recorded and submitted your video clip for the Holiday Concert, now is a great time to rehearse, plan, and record your clip. The class song and song link that you are to record with is posted in last week's assignment. All the grades and song links are posted in the assignment. So far, I have only received 5 recordings. Remember, the due date is
December 10, 2020. I can't begin the first of many video edits until I receive at least 7 video clips of one of the class songs.
Part 2: Quaver Music - for this lesson I will give you the code for the lesson. Starting next week I will be giving out the class codes for Quaver Music. Each class has its own classroom code, and it will only need to be entered one time. You will now have your own Quaver classroom to access all of your work, projects, work sheets, videos, and general assignments. Quaver Music and Infinite Campus are linked, so each class will have a Quaver class code. You will no longer have to type in a code for each activity that I assign on Quaver. I will have your class attendance, grading scale (rubric), lesson plans, and assignments all posted in your Quaver classroom. This will make it easier for both of us when it comes to knowing what the assignment is, and what my expectations are for the lesson.
For this week:
What is the Beat? Video (review video), but now you have the code to see it properly.

The code for this video is: 749YTY
The Classical Period Episode.
